Aslo during World War II small band playing this music bacame full orchestras greatly influenced by American swing music. Although ameican-inspired the lyrics were sung in Amharic. Again during the 60's they also began preforming swing music. Many imported music albums make their way to Ethiopia. Many years following Ethiopian music has attracted alot of attention from westerners.

I chose Egyptian music. Since the 1970s, Egyptian pop music has become increasingly important in Egyptian culture. They use harps, double clarinets, drums, lyres which are an acient form of guitars, and lutes which are similar to violins. In general, modern Egyptian music blends these indigenous traditions with Turkish, Arabic, and Western elements. Early Arabic music was influenced by Indian and Persian forms. Religious music remains an essential part of traditional Muslim and Coptic celebrations called mulids. Egyptian music was a way to communicate social and class issues. The Egyptian flute, called the ney, is commonly played at mulids. Sawahli music is a type of popular music from the northern coast. Starting in the late 1960s, light song emerged as the first modern Egyptian pop tradition. Often nationalist in tone, light songs were humorous and sometimes risque. What interested you the most that you learned from the culture you learned?

For my research I chose to do it on Polish music. Poland is in central Europe, bordering Germany. A couple genres of Polish music would be poezja piewana and disco polo which basically is sung poetry and party music. :] Unlike most countries in Europe people enjoy rock and hip hop more than pop music. Music such as techno is also popular in Poland. A big thing in Poland would also have to be the traditional Polish folk music. Polish folk music can be dated back to possibly the 17th century. Poland has always been open minded about music, and they listen to almost everything Americans listen to. Hearing Polish folk music is almost a definite at their festivals. During the 17th and 18th century opera and classical music was a big thing.
