"those who are crazy enough to think that can change the world usually do." although this person is in fact not crazyhe has definitely changed the world. This person has made strides to better himself and the quality of life around him. He is an innovative and effective problem solver; finding new ways to end a conflict and have a positive impact on peoples lives at the same time. This man is one of the strongest individuals I know: resisting oppression, fighting inequality and striving for peace. And now without any further delay, is my great pleasure to present this amazing person with the Oscar Mayer peace prize.
Clue: My Peace Hero was born january 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi.
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Assignment # 1 :
Im honored to present this Peace Award to a very close friend of mine. Shes a 16-year-old junior at New Bedford High School who honestly, to me, is an angel. Shes the sweetest, most honest, calm and loyal person Ive ever met. Ive known her ever since June 25, 1992, the day she was born. Ever since that day only good has come from her. She respects everyone and everything around her and never has any type of hate towards anyone. Shes always there for me, as well as for all of her friends and family members, when we need her most. It amazes me how genuine and pure she is. She only eats organic food, has never gotten a B as a grade in her entire 16 years of life, never lashed out on anyone, nor despised anyone, she gets along with everyone, maintains a part time job, participates in extracurricular activities (such as ROTC, Drill Team, and Honor Guard), has done charity work such as our local soup kitchens, Walk for Hunger, Walk for Autism, and has just recently signed up for the Relay for Life. Those are just a few examples of what a phenomenal person she is and for that, she deserves this Peace Award.
The peace prize goes to????If I could give a peace prize to someone it would be my mother. I know for other she maybe nobody but for me she is my idol and one of the women that I looked up for. I remember since I was born I never saw that woman use violence to solve her problems. Sometimes she gets mad but she always look at her children and be always when someone does anything to hurt them dont try to get to them by violence, leave it to God.In one point I admit that I am not like her because even if u do something bad to her she will be your friend and forget about what you did. There was this one time that this woman talked mad stuff about her even made her look like nothing in front her children but she didnt do nothing to make that woman pay. She knew that the woman just wanted her to use violence so she could get deported back to her country. She remain like nothing had happen she treated that woman with the same respect and caring that she would to for someone else.Thats why I present the peace prize to my mother, a leader (raised 8 kids on her own), giver (she believes in forgiveness and doesnt use violence to solve her problem).
My peace hero has always been someone I have looked up to. A strong person in and out that gives off a good feeling. My hero is an independent person who has respected everyone for who they are and never tried to put others down. As long as I can remember my peace hero has done things not only for themselves but also for the ones around them. I recall a day when an argument was arising and my hero asked the two people to sit down. So they did and the conflict died down because my hero did everything in his or her power to make peace. I hope one day I become like my hero and carry the traits that make peace such a beautiful thing. Everyday, my hero knows deep down inside that peace and harmony is the key to everything. I have never, not once felt uncomfortable because with the embrace of my hero I feel I can too have peace within me. Many days I want to give up but I know I have someone who can lift me up. My heros favorite quote is : Live, Laugh and Love because you only have one life to live.
The person I chose to write about is a person in that made a significant role in teaching me about peace and how violence is not the answer. This person taught me when I was younger that you can be mad at something and you dont have to make an act of violence just because youre mad. The person even its been picked on, or has somebody that has a superior amount of power over her, and that person misuses its power. If she felt that the person has used its power for wrong doing, she rise up and speak against that person even if she does not have a follower, just as long as she speaks out for something that its wrong she doesnt care if she doesnt win. She would never back down form a opportunity to speak out against anybody who she feels is wrong. I remember one time she spoke out against our mother when she punished my little sister, because she knew she didnt do nothing wrong. My mother did know of this and forgave my little sister.
.do to all these action she is very inspirational in my life.
A peacemaker is someone who is unified, and helps restore the truth that they see among many people. These conflicts could be simple, or extravagant. The peacemaker still sees to restoring the truth and bringing peace. In my life, there is someone who I could consider a peacemaker. He is a strong individual who has his own beliefs. He loves creating relationships and keeping them. He always looks at the ways to keep every person unified and together, instead of separated and destroyed. This close friend of mine is always getting rid of my negative thoughts. He is always around when I get some kind of conflict thrown my way. I let him know the situation and he has just the right words to say. The problem is resolved in a day or two, peacefully, and everything is restored to the positive state. This impacts me as a person, making me strive to be more forgiving and peaceful. He gives me the strength to realize that there is a peaceful way to resolve every conflict in life. One strong example of his peace work took place a few weeks ago. It was a simple problem between himself and his parents. His parents were yelling and screaming, while I was sitting in the living room. He remained calm and never raised his voice. He asked his parents why they felt the way they did, and if there was an alternate to their anger. They thought about it and agreed that the conflict was somewhat their problem. They realized there was no reason to be arguing, seeing as nothing was getting solved. It was nice to see a teenager not scream back at his parents, like most teens do. His way of speaking to people is more than calming; its everything someone needs to know to live a successful and peaceful life. There are many individuals that would consider this person a peacemaker as well. He is completely free of disturbance. Many people would love to see him get the Local Peace Prize.
My peace hero is a social and political reformer from Philadelphia. She was born on September 12 1859. My hero was a faithful fighter for child labor laws, women rights and civil rights in the United States. WHO AM I????

My aunt was concerned because he was yelling at her on the phone so she ask why they were having problems and he told her how his sister was telling his mom lies about how he smokes and he was getting punished because of it. And my aunt being the kind person that she is called his mom and told her about how upset he was that she was lien. And thanks to my aunt his mom believed him and he was no longer in trouble. Thanks to her he stopped arguing with his sister and was in a good mood again.

She said "and then people wonder why the worl is the way it is... it all starts with examples." Ever since then i look up to her with more respect and more appreciation towards her.

On August 25,1985, Samantha and her father were returning home after filming a segment for Lime Street. The plane struck some trees and crashed, killing all six passengers and two crew on board. Samantha and her father were buried near Houlton, where she was born. President Reagan sent his condolences to Samanthas mother, writing,
Perhaps you can take some measure of comfort in the knowledge that millions of Americans, indeed millions of people, share the burdens of your grief. They also will cherish and remember Samantha, her smile, her idealism, and unaffected sweetness of spirit.

Essential QuestionHaving the ability to not take sides, and help conflicts between others as well as their selves in everyday life. These conflicts are probably small problems within their community. A peace hero on the other hand helps people everywhere, not just in their own town. A peace hero in my life would be my mother. Although I dont get along with her, or particularly like her, she does amazing things everyday and often goes unnoticed. When I did live with her, she worked nonstop just to keep a roof over my head as well as the rest of my family. She worked 2 jobs just to build the house in the first place. When things got bad, she never gave up, just worked even harder. People would put her down, and shed just work through it. Conflicts between my sister were solved before they even started with her around. For that I thank her for always being there.
Peace Hero ;My peace hero was a victim of the Holocaust who wasnt afraid to speak their story.
Mildred Norman traveled alone hiked the entire length of the 2050 mile long Appalachian Trail. She was the first women to accomplish this feat in the summer of 1952. She then talked about how she wanted to start anouther race she called it "some optimistic hiking". The race was going to start from Los Angeles to New York, and on to Washington D.C. starting on Jan. 1, 1953. She would like to talk to people about peace, peace in the world, and peace within. When she was at the end of the Appalachian Trail race she had a visionwhich was those who have found the way to peace should be shouted on the housetops. And this was to be her life mission: a pilgrimage for peace. She began this pilgrimage at the Rose Parade in Pasadena in 1953. She later said that it was the proper time for a pilgrim to step forward because a pilgrims job is to rouse people form apathy and make them think. Mildred later started with three peace petitions one requesting peace in Korea, the second pleading for an establishment of an national Peace Department, and third was directed to the U.N. seeking for freedom in the world from the burden of armaments. She had all three petitions signed and presented to the White House and the U.N. in the East Coast eleven months later. But she did not stop there she kept on walking for the rest of her life, she would always wear a blue tunic with many pockets that carried small blue leaflets to pass out and on the front of her tunic which read PEACE PILGRIMS and on the back was WALKING COAST to COAST for peace. Mildred was born in 1908 on a small chicken farm in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey and passed away in 1981.

I am a political hero that made a huge affect on the racial profiling. I can influence alot of people because my persistency and will to fight, not physically but verbally. Born in the great state of Georgia. (A-Town All Day) Who Am I?
My peacemaker was an emperor, a fierce warrior king. He ruled the Mauryan Empire. He was a brutal and bloodthirsty king but that soon changed. A war that took place made him change his attitude. Especially when he seen all the bodies that had lost their lives fighting in the war. He became more heart-felt and built many temples and hospitals to help everyone. Including hospitals for animals. Ashoka was no longer interested in war and sent Buddhists on missionaries to spread the message of peace. Buddhists believe their belief spread because of him. Indians still looked up to him more than 2,000 years later.
I would give the peace award to my friend who is 18. She works hard and never once had a problem with anyone. She knows when to stop talking and can always make someone that is really mad, smile. One time that I remember in particular is when someone threatened one of our good friends and she had the guts to take that person to the side and talk to them as calmly as she could. Our friend that got threatened was very scared but he didnt want to show it. She talked to the other kid and nobody knows what she told him but it didnt seem like he was mad anymore when they were done talking. It had a huge effect on me because I didnt think that she had that kind of ability but she was really convincing to him. She is a problem solver, thats what she does. Thats why I would give her the Peace Prize.
Would you take that kid to the side and talked to him or would you have been quiet and not said anything because you didnt want to get involved?
Oprah Winfreycame from a humble childhood to become one of the most influential women in America today. Unlike many, she uses her fame and wealth to help positively influence the lives of people in need. She was born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi, by the name of Orpah, which is a character from the Bible, but now goes by Oprah. As a young child her parents divorced, forcing her to live with her grandparents until she was about six. She then moved back in with her mother and was constantly sexually molested by male relatives until she was 14 when she then moved in with her father. Though her father was very loving, he was also strict, which pushed her to act rebellious. She used drugs and also got pregnant at an early age, but lost the baby after giving birth to it prematurely. She soon began to settle down with her disobedient actions after being awarded a University Scholarship. Oprah studied at the TennesseeStateUniversity, received a BA in Speech and Performing Arts, and also became involved in several groups and pursued her interests in media and journalism while at University. She was now inspired to achieve more in life. Her career really began to take off after she moved to Chicago in 1984. There she hosted and early morning talk show named "AM Chicago". After she started it became the number one ranked talk show and after one year it was then renamed "The Oprah Winfrey Show". The Oprah Winfrey Show went on to become one of the most successful and highest ranked television talk show programs in history. It is viewed by more than 20 million Americans every week. Oprah continues to live out her dreams of helping the world in any aspect that she can, and is to this day one of the most influential women out there.<3
