5.There day at high school was not typical at all they had a racist teacher who told them go back to where they came from.

6.the two players found it hard because they were treated like kids couldn't hang with girls.they also did not like American food.The players on the team would make fun of them because they were Dominican and could barely speak English.

7.They could learn it and try living in a different culture for a day.

8.Food plays a big role because it shows you how certain people have to get use to certain countries food.

7.       Describe methods or tools used to bridge cultural gaps in two stories. -in Jose and Rico's story as well as in Barines daughters they both had to find a way to fit in really. It first had to do with the traditions that come with the culture that dont fir into american life style and then just to find friends that they could connet with. this helped them to better accustem into the American society.

8.       What role does food play in the narratives?  Is it culturally divisive or inclusive? -the only way i can think of that it would be inclusive is that it is probably healthier than american food. Food to evry culture is just another way to keep the traditions alive and to preserve jsut one more aspect of "the old way"... "the good way"

9.       Describe the impact of rituals on different cultures.  Use two examples. For example, praying 5 times a day doesn't always fit into thier live because the american life style is baced on Christian beliefes. Also eating with your hands is generally accepted into the American manerisms in the acceptance of a dinner plate. 

10.   What commonalities do all five stories have?  What differences exist? - as for commonalities, all five stories are connected with the struggle of culture shock, culture modification and culture preservation they just differ in the situation. all five of them had to change their way of living but tried to hang on to the thing they knew best.. thier traditions. In a way it was a part of their identity, and they all were proud to have that seperation from "the americans."

11.   What inferences can be made concerning immigration and labor in the US? -i believe that the process today is really very sloppy and, from waht it looks like in the movie, there is little to no help for them to come to america. It looks like a long and aggrivated process. If there were any changes i would say that the process should be more organized and friendly to those who only hold their dreams in their hearts, not only to those who have money.

12.   Describe how language brings people in the stories together.  How does it keep people apart? - together: it helps jsut to identify ona  daily bacis where it was that they came from and this is also the reason why it keeps them apart.

13.   To what extent is America a welcoming society?  To what extent is it not? -Americans, as shown in the video, judge way to easily and assume that everyone is assimilated wihtt eh culture already and are horrable to the immagrants when in fact this is what our country was founded on.

14.   How does religion influence the lives of all five immigrant stories?  -rligion traces the beliefs back to a time when there wasn't written language or recording. these are the traces to our past and every religion is different and this is the beauty in it and this is why in all five stories they wanted ot keep it strong no matter how difficult it was becasue they wanted to be strong like their ansestorswere.

15.   What do these stories explain to us concerning cultural diversity or unity? -as far as america goes with diversity we are going strong and as far as unity we still need work in acceptance and understanding.

16.   How does learning about other cultures help us learn more about ourselves?  -we ewstablish new grounds to back our way of thingking and learn that, as my mother always says (english translation.. it sounds better in spanish) "there is more than one way."

17.   In what way did the US government influence the experiences of the immigrants?  Use three examples. -comming from latin america the government made it difficult to live but granted the passage through the Rio Grande. comming from Africa the US government only took a certain amount of people at a time making it hard to leave those behind especially when they didn't know if they were going to end up in the same place. and comming with a cureer already in mind the US government kept a close eye on those involved representing our country and sometimes judged too quickly on the situation.

18.   Did any ethical or cultural values of the immigrants change at all after coming to the US?  Why or why not? -Some learned that it was important to take a stand in what you believe in and that it was alright to fight and raise awareness. Others learned that because following your tradition on to the way you were used to doing it doesn't mean that you love your god any less. and others learned that  you have to fight and really want what you are driving for or it will make it that much more difficult to seccede in America. I think these changes happend due to the fact that they were being forced to adjust in order to survive in a strange country.

19.   In what ways did any of the immigrants demonstrate leadership skills? - All of them did by actually going out in a strange country and looking for work. all of them succeeded one way or another in what they were looking for and they all became sucessful becasue it was their dream becasue they had to.

20.   What did you learn about the following that you did not know before?

a.       The United States -we actually have a test in order to become a citizen that i know i wouldn't pass as a senior in high school.

b.      Mexico- there is more poverty than i imagined.

c.       The Dominican Republic- baseball is as popular there as it is here adn maybe even moreso.

d.      Palestine- i didn't know that they were so strict with their traditions.

e.      India- also that the traditions were followed that exactly.

f.        Nigeria- that that many people needed help over situations like that.
